Been wanting to hear pros and cons of each Soulcore and pietra- what do you like about one more than the other. What are differences? Trying to decide which one to look into more deeply first.

Great question! I love them both. Differently but equally. They are both rooted in a fervent love of Christ and His Church and a devotion to Blessed Mother. Both communities feel like home to me, with women united in prayer in and outside of the workouts, engaged in study of the faith and in healthy living.

Pietra Fitness is more structured and designed to meet the specific benefits that people seek after leaving yoga. The exercise is rooted in prayer and classes involve more specific instruction in posture and movements than SoulCore, which is quieter. As Pietra instructors gain experience (and based on their independent professional credentials) they can certify to write their own workouts and introduce more variety. There is a defined separation between Gentle, Intermediate, and Advanced workouts.

SoulCore is rooted in the Rosary... even if no other movement is done, one can rest in that prayer.. it is the center. Each workout has the same basic structure as designed by the founders, but the individual leaders design elements of the rest of the workout as they see fit. SoulCore can be done on a treadmill or in a pool! The rosary stays the same, the foundational elements are there, each instructor discerns where to lead from there, though there are similarities since best practices are encouraged.

Both programs have online trial periods so I encourage trying that. But I also encourage finding an in person class if you can. The experience is different... edifying in a way that can't quite be reproduced online. Also enhances the online experience after having experienced in person. Hope that helps somewhat!

Thanks for the info! I'm going to look into these two yoga alternatives you mention. As a Christian, I have never been comfortable with the spiritual aspects of yoga, but I have also had some physical issues with some of the poses. I look forward to checking these out!
